The objective of this research is to analyse the causes of the incongruity between the duration of companionship of the narrators known as the Mukthrin (The most prolific transmitters of Hadith) and the sheer volume of their reported narrations. It further seeks to scrutinize the interplay between narrative structures, cultural contexts, and the jurisprudential system in the formation of this phenomenon. The study aims to address three central questions: What are the most significant narrative core themes found in the narrations of the Mukthrin? What is the correlation between the cultural and political context of the second Hijrī century and the emergence of these themes? And what impact have these narrative patterns had on the Sunni jurisprudential system? The research employs a mixed methodology that utilizes Sanad (chain of narrators) dating to determine the temporal emergence of the narrations, core theme analysis to identify recurring patterns, and a comparative study of the Shi'a and Sunni Hadith traditions. The findings indicate that the Mukthrin should be understood not merely as historical individuals, but rather as cultural-narrative motifs that were exploited-capitalizing on their social popularity during the Umayyad period-as a tool for transmitting jurisprudential rulings in the guise of concise narratives. The results suggest that this phenomenon was shaped by factors such as the power of narrative literature, the vacuum in the jurisprudential system during the Umayyad era, and a reversal of values. This, on the one hand, led to the revival of the Prophetic Tradition and the creation of a relative unity in jurisprudential rulings, but, on the other hand, introduced challenges such as the conflict of narrations and the diminished role of reason (ʿaql) in independent legal reasoning (Ijtihād).
