The aim of this study is to reconstruct and systematically analyze the hadith based approaches of Fāḍil Miqdād al Sīūrī within the domain of Imami theological thought, with particular emphasis on his hadith principles, modes of transmission, types of argumentative deployment, methods of hadith interpretation (fiqh al ḥadīth), and practices of isnād and matn based criticism. The research adopts a descriptive–analytical method, grounded in direct examination and text centered analysis of Fāḍil Miqdād’s theological works. Data were collected through systematic survey of his primary writings and classified using content analysis.
The findings indicate that Fāḍil Miqdād employs a multi layered, rational, and rule governed model in his engagement with hadith. Within this model, mass transmitted reports (mutawātir), in their various forms, constitute the only independent and authoritative transmitted source in matters of belief, whereas solitary reports (khabar al wāḥid) lack binding force except insofar as they reinforce or corroborate definitive rational or textual proofs. Alongside diverse modes of transmission, he applies methodical isnād and matn criticism to refine the hadith corpus, although in a limited number of cases his hadith judgments remain open to critique. The study concludes that Fāḍil Miqdād’s hadith approach represents a salient example of the interaction between reason and hadith in the Imami theological tradition and offers a credible model for the historical reassessment of this relationship.
