Attention to the historical development of religious teachings and beliefs has become more widespread after the victory of the Islamic Revolution in Iran, and has also appeared in the works of some Muslim thinkers, including Modarresi Tabataba'i. In his book "School in the Process of Evolution," he seeks to demonstrate the historical development of the basic principles of Imami Shiite thought in the conflict between the two fronts of Ghali and Muqasr. He has concluded that some Shiite beliefs on the subject of Imamate are influenced by the thought of Ghalat. The purpose of the present article is to analysis some of the main conclusions of this work in a descriptive-analytical manner. Findings indicate that the investigated inferences in aspects such as inconsistency between inference and citation, inference based on incomplete reporting, inference based on limiting to one narration and ignoring other narrations, and based on literal translation of a phrase and ignoring the context, historical context, and context of narrations, and neglecting the element of taqiyyah, not paying attention to the historical usage of concepts in the early centuries, and improper comparison of the conditions of the previous period with the present era are flawed, and based on this type of inference and conclusion, a firm and strong theory cannot be established.
